Rajesh Mohanty selected for U-19 Asia Cup

Odisha medium-pacer Rajesh Mohanty was today selected to represent India U-19 Team in the Asia Cup at Dhaka from September 29, 2018 and India U-19 A Team in the Quadrangular One-day Series at Lucknow from September 12 to 18, 2018.

The BCCI Junior Selection Committee, which includes new member Debasis Mohanty of Odisha, met in Delhi to pick the India U19 teams for both the tournaments. Other three teams for the series are: India U-19 B, Afghanistan and Nepal. As many as eight nations _ Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Hong Kong, Nepal, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and UAE _ will participate in the U-19 Asia Cup.

Rajesh hails from Nayagarh district and earlier played for Odisha U-16, U-19 and East Zone U-16 teams. A right-hand bowler and left-hand batsman, Rajesh stays with his uncle in Jatni and travels by train to Bhubaneswar to hon his skills at Rameswar Sporting Club, under the guidance of former Odisha pacer Deepak Mangaraj.

Dhiren Pallai, Chairman OCA Working Committee congratulated Rajesh Mohanty on behalf of Odisha Cricket Association and wished him success in the ensuing tournaments.
